A standard double ring infiltrometer set compliant with ASTM D3385-03 and DIN 19682, capable of triple simultaneous measurement.
This standard double ring infiltrometer set is used to take triple simultaneous measurements in accordance with ASTM D3385-03 Test Method and DIN 19682.
Measuring the rate at which water infiltrates the soil is an important indicator for irrigation and drainage efficiency, optimizing water availability for plants, boosting yield and minimizing erosion.
The double ring infiltrometer is a simple instrument used to determine the rate at which water infiltrates the soil. The infiltration rate is defined as the volume of water that penetrates the soil per unit area and unit time; it can be calculated from the measurement results using Darcy's Law.
The standard set consists of several stainless steel rings of different diameters for ease of transport. Since vertically infiltrating water also spreads sideways, the outer ring acts as a buffer; measurement is taken only in the inner ring, where the water flow is nearly entirely vertical.
