A module that measures soil's electrical conductivity and dielectric parameters simultaneously with CPT.
A soil's dielectric parameters, electrical conductivity and electrical permittivity vary largely depending on water content and hydrocarbon contamination. Electrical conductivity is also inversely proportional to grain size (for example, clays generally have higher conductivity than sands).
The combination of these parameters provides useful information in a single test about soil stratigraphy, moisture content, saltwater intrusion or environmental contamination. Mounted behind the CPT cone, the conductivity module performs in-situ dielectric measurement while collecting CPT data simultaneously. It can be mounted behind a 15 cm² cone or fitted with a blind tip for stand-alone use.
