A two-piece root auger that collects nearly undisturbed, uniform samples in layers up to 15 cm, down to a depth of 2 metres.
The bi-partite root auger lets you take near-undisturbed, uniform soil samples in layers up to 15 centimetres. The auger consists of a bottom part fitted with an exchangeable drilling crown, and a short, removable top part (handle) with a beating head.
In lighter soils the auger can be pushed and turned into the ground; in heavier soils an impact hammer can be used. The standard set includes an Edelman auger and a Riverside auger to widen the borehole and level the base. A conical thread connection is used.
The root auger is fitted with a sample-ejector unit, operated by a crank handle, that pushes the soil sample out of the auger cylinder. The complete root auger set, with all accessories, is packed in an aluminium carrying case.
