A stainless-steel bailer for taking manual water samples from boreholes and monitoring wells. A ball check valve prevents sample loss during retrieval; available in 250 ml and 1000 ml volume options.
This stainless-steel bailer sampler is used to take water samples from boreholes and monitoring wells. A ball check valve at the bottom eases sample collection and prevents the sample from mixing back into the well.
It is lowered into the well on a rope or cable; water flows in through the open top, and when it is hoisted the valve closes to retain the sample. The included emptying device reduces oxidation, volatilization and turbulence during transfer to a sample bottle — pouring directly from the open top is also possible. When sampling at several depths in the same water column, start with the shallowest depth first, since previously disturbed water layers can no longer be treated as undisturbed. Not designed for LNAPL or DNAPL (light/dense non-aqueous phase liquid) sampling.
